BIGGER, FASTER, STRONGER CLINIC - coming soon!
Thanks to a grant by the Wayland Public Schools Foundation and the efforts of Athletic Director Martha Jamieson, all students will have a FREE clinical opportunity to learn about sports conditioning through agility and strength training on the WHS Field house.
WHS coaches will be trained from 8:00-11:00am by BFS (Bigger, Faster,
Stronger) clinicians and then work to receive their certification as they
teach students the program from 11:00-5:00pm. This event was postponed due to bad weather in March 2007 and a new date will be posted shortly.
Jamieson hopes that the BFS Clinic will help kick off a programmed curriculum for all students and create a sense of community around improving fitness and performance levels. All Students will be given manuals to track their progress and will be able to work out together, speaking the same language, irrespective of which sport they play.
This program has proven success - the WHS Superbowl champion football team has been using it for 5 years and has seen significant improvement (they were just featured on the cover of the national BFS magazine). College coaches have reported that the athletes that have used this program come to college much better prepared.
In an effort to get our community to embrace fitness for all students, this is an excellent program that we are privileged to be able to offer. Please see flyer on the Wayland Athletic website. Have your student sign up at the athletic office or email Martha Jamieson at martha_jamieson@wayland.k12.ma.us
